The University of Milan, founded in 1923, is the top Italian University in many international rankings and is the only Italian University among the 23 prestigious institutions that belong to the League of European Research Universities (LERU). It is the largest University in Italy with 31 Departments and over 63.000 students. Its Medical School is one of the most important in Italy in terms of both the standards of training and the clinical and basic scientific results. The headquarters are located in the renaissance building of Ca’ Granda, commissioned by the Duke of Milan Francesco Sforza.
